About Smart Lipo™
Smart Lipo™ is a surgical procedure that safely and effectively removes fat cells using laser-assisted technology. Often used in dental procedures, lasik eye surgery and reconstructive cosmetic procedures (including liposuction), laser technology differentiates Smart Lipo™ from its competitors in the marketplace. Today’s medical-grade lasers are very safe and extremely accurate. Focused light energy in the form of lasers can be adjusted to a specific frequency range to liquefy fatty deposits under the skin. During the Smart Lipo™ surgery, the laser ruptures and breaks apart the fibrous fat cells so that they can be sucked up out of the body through a very tiny tube called a cannula. Smart Lipo™laser liquefication makes it possible to use very small cannulas to remove fat from the body which means smaller incisions, less recovery time, and diminished scarring. Additionally, lasers can be aimed at the skin to encourage retraction in targeted areas of the body. The outcome after the surgery is a smoother, slimmer, more toned appearance. How it Works
Before the Smart Lipo™procedure begins, the cosmetic surgeon will make some tiny incisions in the targeted area to inject local anesthetic into the tissues. These incisions will also be used for insertion of the small laser apparatus and cannula that will be used to melt fat and then suck it out of the body. The incisions require no stitches and they heal within days, leaving minimal to no scars. Throughout the procedure, the surgeon gently guides the laser device under the skin to melt and remove a precise amount of fat from the target area. The laser energy is calibrated to seal blood vessels and causes blood to coagulate diminishing bleeding, as well as swelling, and bruising of the delicate tissues nearby. A specific laser frequency is then aimed at the skin overlying the treated area to encourage collagen growth, increased elasticity, and a more toned appearance.
The use of specialized laser frequencies to melt fat, quell bleeding, and tonify the skin makes Smart Lipo™ a popular choice for liposuction. The diminished bleeding, swelling, and bruising hastens recovery and enhances the final outcome in comparison with traditional liposuction surgery. Patients are only lightly sedated during Smart Lipo™surgery which significantly reduces the risk as compared to general anesthesia. Smart Lipo™requires smaller incisions than traditional liposuction, scarring is kept to a minimum as well which produces results that look completely natural with minimal downtime.

Are you the right candidate for Smart Lipo™?
Your doctor will review the benefits and risks of Smart Lipo ™ with you during your consultation visit. He’ll assess whether you’re a good candidate by reviewing your medical history. During the initial consultation he’ll also discuss what Smart Lipo™ can do for you.
It’s recommended that patients be in good physical health before undergoing Smart Lipo™ to reduce the risks and potential complications that are inherent in all surgical procedures. Smart Lipo™ is not for weight loss. It’s a body-sculpting procedure designed to remove moderate amounts of fat in the arms, love-handles, buttocks, thighs, mid-section, and waist areas of the body. Smart Lipo™ is recommended for people that have excess fatty deposits in discrete areas of the body. Patients with barrel-shaped waists, muffin tops, tummy rolls, spare tires, post-pregnancy flab, arm flab, thunder thighs and areas that do not respond well to exercise or dieting.
Who is a good candidate for the Smart Lipo ™ procedure?
If you have isolated areas of fat that are not responding to diet and exercise, then you’re a good candidate for Smart Lipo™. Ideal candidates are in good health, of normal body weight, and have realistic expectations about what the procedure can accomplish for them.
What areas of the body can be treated with Smart Lipo ™?
Smart Lipo ™ can be a great adjunct to tumescent liposuction procedures. It’s ideal for treating small areas of the face, neck, arms, knees, back, bra strap, mons pubis, breasts and gynecomastia. More than one area of the body can be treated with liposuction during the same visit using Smart Lipo™ and through fat grafting, other areas of the body such as the buttocks, can be enhanced to create a more lifted and voluminous appearance.
How many treatments are necessary?
Only one treatment session is required for each area of the body being treated. Once the fat is removed from an area, the cells don’t grow back.
Post-treatment protocol?
Following Smart Lipo™ surgery, there will be some minor discomfort and bruising in the treated area. We recommend 24 to 48 hours of rest, but after a “Lunch Hour Lipo” session most patients are able to return to work immediately.
Post surgery side effects?
Because Smart Lipo™ is a safe, targeted procedure that utilizes finely tuned laser instruments and a local anesthetic, side effects are minimized. Any discomfort from the procedure goes away within a day or two. Since the incisions are so tiny, patients do no need stitches. The tiny puncture wounds typically heal within a couple of days. Patients may have mild discomfort and perhaps some light bruising, but they can walk, resume their normal daily activities, and return to work within 24 to 48 hours.
There may be some slight swelling in the area after the procedure, but that will subside after the anesthetic solution is absorbed and eliminated by the body.
Does Smart Lipo™ treat cellulite?
The Smart Lipo ™ procedure does not specifically target cellulite, but it will improve the underlying structures and reduce fatty deposits that can worsen the appearance of cellulite. Many patients have reported that the appearance of their cellulite improved following Smart Lipo™ treatment due in part to the removal of excess fat stores beneath the skin and in part to the skin tightening effects of the Smart Lipo ™ laser.
Many patients are concerned that the surgery will leave scars or excess, sagging skin, but because only a small number of tiny incisions are made to complete the Smart Lipo™ surgery scarring is improbable. The incision marks heal very quickly after the surgery and scarring is usually not an issue. Excess sagging skin is also an unlikely side effect of the Smart Lipo™ procedure because laser frequencies are calibrated to specifically promote skin retraction in the targeted areas of the body. Unless your skin is already very thin, wrinkled, or lax due to aging or dramatic weight loss, you will usually see an improvement in skin tone and firmness following the procedure. Older patients and people who have lost a lot of weight quickly may pursue Smart Lipo™specifically as a treatment solution for sagging, flabby skin.
When can I expect to see results?
Results can be seen immediately, but patients will see continuing improvement over the course of several months.
Safety and Complications
Smart Lipo™ is safer than traditional liposuction because there is less blood loss and patients are only lightly sedated rather than receiving general anesthesia. Many of the risks associated with traditional liposuction have been vastly reduced by the technologies used during a Smart Lipo™procedure.
Dr. William Hall’s Expert Perspective on Advanced Lipo Procedures
Dr. Hall utilizes a variety of the most advanced technologies to achieve the best liposuction results possible.
“We never know what particular technology is right for a patient until we’re in the act of performing surgery” states Dr. Hall; “It all has to do with the consistency of the fat. Each person is different.”
In addition, Dr. Hall says that the outcomes that patients can expect from a lipo procedure are the direct result of the surgeon’s experience and technique. “To get the best results patients need to seek out experienced surgeons with the ability to apply precision and accuracy to get the most refined and contoured outcome.”
Dr. Hall believes that at Infini Cosmetic Associates, one particular technology should not be advertised: “We’re not selling machines; the machine is only a tool. We’re here to deliver excellent liposuction results and to care for our patients, and that happens when the physician is knowledgeable and experienced, with a well trained staff.” He says, “Many technologies are advertised as the ‘latest’ or ‘most revolutionary’ systems, but these trends in technology come and go and we often learn that the results don’t deliver what the suppliers advertised.”
That’s why Dr. Hall only uses technology that is medically endorsed by independent physicians (i.e. physicians who were not paid by a company selling a particular technology) to give enhanced results.
